Post-surgical recovery home care in Salem, OR

The hospital sends your mom home with a folder of instructions and a follow-up date. The space between those two things is where families get overwhelmed. That space is our job.

What it is

What post-surgical home care covers.

Post-surgical home care covers the first weeks after an operation, when most complications and readmissions happen. It runs alongside the surgeon's follow-ups, and because Pasha is a licensed comprehensive agency, our nurse can delegate wound dressing changes, medication administration, and vitals checks to your parent's caregiver under the surgeon's orders.

It covers

  • Help moving safely: bed, bathroom, stairs, shower
  • Wound dressing changes and vitals checks, nurse-delegated under the surgeon's orders
  • Meals, hydration, and medication support
  • Laundry, errands, and tasks under lifting restrictions
  • Rides to follow-up appointments
  • Overnight presence for the first nights home

It does not cover

  • Physical therapy
  • Diagnosing complications (we watch closely, the surgeon decides)
  • Emergency care (we call 911 and stay)
The recovery timeline

Heavy help early, then we hand it back.

Surgical recovery has a rhythm: heavy support early, then a steady handing-back of independence. We staff for the week you're actually in, not a generic schedule.

01

The first week

The riskiest stretch: anesthesia fog, new pain medication, strict restrictions, and a body that doesn't move like it did last week. Long visits, often overnight presence.

02

Weeks two to four

Restrictions start lifting, energy comes back unevenly. We keep the follow-ups, the meals, and the no-lifting rules honest while your parent tests their legs again.

03

The long tail

Some surgeries are done in a month. Joint replacements and cardiac surgeries can take six. Visits taper as independence returns, on your parent's schedule, not ours.

How we help

Six things that make the first 30 days safer.

Discharge instructions, followed

We turn the hospital folder into an actual daily routine: what happens when, what's restricted, what gets asked at the follow-up.

Safe first days

Getting out of bed, to the bathroom, into the shower. The falls that undo surgeries happen in exactly these moments, so that's where we stand.

Meals and hydration

Recovery runs on protein and water, and nobody feels like cooking after surgery. We cook, they eat, we track intake when it matters.

Follow-up appointment rides

Driving is usually off the table for weeks. We get your parent there on time, and someone stays for the waiting room.

The household, under restrictions

No lifting over ten pounds means no laundry baskets, no grocery bags, no vacuum. We carry all of it, literally.

Same caregiver, every visit

Recovery involves help with vulnerable moments. One trusted person, not a rotation of strangers.

From a family

"My mother had a hip replacement and lives alone. Pasha covered the first three weeks, mornings and evenings. She never missed a follow-up and never once felt like a burden. Neither did we."

Common questions

What families ask first.

Yes, with nurse delegation. Our registered nurse trains your parent's caregiver on the specific dressing change, delegates the task under the surgeon's orders, and supervises it. Anything that looks off gets reported to you and the surgeon's office right away.
